All Will Be Set Right
Why protest? Why stick your neck out? Why take the risk? Protests often end badly for the protestors. All Will Be Set Right is a new play with music that follows the fortunes of three linked characters across two protests in London: Jack Cade’s Rebellion of 1450; and a contemporary immigration protest.
Jack Cade’s Rebellion involved a march on the City by about 5,000 rebels, mainly from Kent and Sussex. The target of their protest was corruption at the court of King Henry, amid fears of a French invasion.
Immigration protests are a highly divisive feature of our time. Protestors say their culture and security are under threat. Opponents call them racists.
Behind every protest, there are protestors. Who are they, and what could these two protests, separated by more than 500 years, possibly have in common?
We to Play took part in The Script's The Thing Festival in Dorchester, Dorset in May 2025, performing an excerpt from All Will Be Set Right by Callum Murray. With Sam Nixon as Effie, Phil Nair-Brown as John and, making his We to Play debut, Jake Marchant as Thomas.
